KFOR Commander, Major General Enrico Barduani, recently held a meeting with the Commander of the Armenian Peacekeeping Brigade, Hamlet Levonyan, to discuss key issues surrounding security in Kosovo and regional stability.
According to a statement from KFOR, the discussion encompassed various topics, including efforts to maintain a secure and peaceful environment across Kosovo, enhancing regional stability, and KFOR’s ongoing support for the EU-facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
“They exchanged views on sustainable security across Kosovo, the regional stability situation, and KFOR’s contribution to supporting the EU-facilitated dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade,” the statement read.
General Major Barduani also commended Colonel Levonyan for the Armenian Peacekeeping Brigade’s long-standing contribution to KFOR’s mission and its role in ensuring stability across the region.
KFOR reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling its mandate under United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244 (1999), which includes maintaining a safe and secure environment for all communities in Kosovo and ensuring freedom of movement.
“KFOR continues to implement its mandate—based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244 from 1999—contributing to a safe and secure environment for all people and communities in Kosovo while ensuring freedom of movement at all times in an impartial manner,” the statement emphasized.
Additionally, KFOR works closely with the Kosovo Police and the EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) to enhance security coordination within their respective responsibilities.
