War veterans’ organizations have reacted to the apology of the Speaker of the Assembly, Dimal Basha, regarding the anti-KLA article he co-authored.

In their response, they stated that the Speaker’s apology is not sufficient.

The KLA Veterans’ Organization (OVL-UÇK) made it clear that their stance remains unchanged: Dimal Basha must be immediately dismissed from his position as Speaker of the Assembly.

“The views expressed in his 2012 academic paper, where our Liberation War and the KLA were undermined, conflict with the constitutional oath he took as an MP and Speaker of the Assembly, as well as with the respect owed to the very foundations of our state, built upon the sacrifice of the Martyrs and Freedom Fighters.”

“For this reason, our position is clear: Dimal Basha must be immediately dismissed from the post of Speaker of the Assembly. We are awaiting the initiative of the MPs of the Kosovo Assembly, to whom we have already submitted an official request on this matter,” the statement reads.

Meanwhile, after the Presidency meeting, Speaker Dimal Basha apologized and said he had been inattentive during his student years, claiming he never actually read the paper that included the anti-KLA content.
