The United States is tightening sanctions on Russia’s oil, gas, and banking sectors by further restricting access to American payment systems.
This is reported by CBS News, an American partner of the BBC, citing four sources, as transmitted by Sinjali.
A 60-day exemption set under the Biden administration, which allowed certain energy transactions involving sanctioned Russian banks to continue, has now expired, CBS reports.
As a result of this expiration, banks may no longer have access to US payment systems to carry out large energy transactions.
