Austria’s Federal Minister for European and International Affairs, Beate Meinl-Reisinger, announced details of her meeting today with Kosovo’s chief diplomat, Glauk Konjufca, who is on an official visit to Austria.
Konjufca is visiting Vienna as part of one of his first official trips since being appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting with his Austrian counterpart, he requested Austria’s support for Kosovo in obtaining EU candidate country status.
The Austrian Foreign Minister emphasized that Kosovo can rely on Austria’s strong backing on its path toward the European Union.
“Thank you for your visit to Vienna today, as one of your first visits as Foreign Minister, Glauk Konjufca! Since Austria — as one of the first EU member states — recognized Kosovo, strong bilateral ties, including economic relations, have developed between our countries. We will continue to strengthen them. You can count on our strong support for Kosovo’s path toward the European Union,” she wrote on X.
The meeting also focused on deepening bilateral relations between Kosovo and Austria, as well as cooperation aimed at strengthening regional stability.
“Austria remains one of the closest and most consistent partners of the Republic of Kosovo on its European path,” the statement from Kosovo’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
