In a public statement, Bekim Jashari, the son of hero Hamez Jashari, has issued an important clarification regarding one of the most iconic visual moments from Kosovo’s war for freedom.

He expressed concern over misinterpretations circulating about the historic photographs of the Legendary Commander Adem Jashari, his father Shaban Jashari, and other family members in military uniform — images recently shown in a Klan Kosova chronicle attributed to Foto Kabashi.

According to Bekim Jashari, these photographs were taken by Adem Jashari himself and his group, fully aware that they might never live to see them, but believing the images would one day be seen by the world. This act, he said, was meant to document the struggle for freedom and ensure that future generations understood the reality of their sacrifice.

“They took these photographs knowing they might never see them, but that the entire world would one day,” Jashari stated, underscoring their immense historical value.

He further revealed that the film reels and footage containing these photographs were sent to Germany to Rifat Jashari, transported by Mujë Sejdiu and Tahir Jashari, two well-known figures from the areas of Prekaz and Lubavec.

In his statement, Bekim Jashari emphasized that this clarification is not an accusation against anyone, but an effort to preserve accuracy and respect for historical truth. He stressed the importance of honoring every individual who contributed to Kosovo’s fight for freedom without distorting the legacy of that struggle.

“Every Albanian has their own merits in our path toward freedom and independence. We do not need to distort the truth of our glorious history,” he said, highlighting the need for unity and proper recognition of all contributions.
