Kosovo police have arrested the suspect accused of attacking 15-year-old footballer Belgin Jashari from Fushë-Kosovë.
According to police reports, the suspect, identified as M.K. (born 1978), assaulted the teenager during a match in Obiliq. He is under investigation for “assault” and has been detained for 48 hours.
A video circulating online captured the moment of the attack.
Police also interviewed Belgin Jashari’s father earlier during the day.
The assault sparked widespread public outrage, as Jashari belongs to the Ashkali community.
Acting Minister of Justice Albulena Haxhiu has called for the maximum punishment for the suspect.
In addition, many people have shown solidarity with Jashari, offering support in various ways.
