The Belgrade court has sentenced former KLA (UÇK) soldier Gjelosh Krasniqi to 15 years in prison, the Humanitarian Law Center reported.

Krasniqi, who served at the Nepole headquarters in Peja, is accused of killing three civilians and injuring another, all Serbs, on June 19, 1999, in Bellopojë near Peja.

The trial was conducted in absentia.

“The indictment against Gjelosh Krasniqi was primarily based on witness testimonies, with limited material and forensic evidence supporting the charges. The court-appointed defense attorney had no contact with the accused. To date, the Office of the War Crimes Prosecutor has filed seven indictments against individuals unavailable to the Serbian judiciary, five of which concern Kosovo citizens accused of crimes against non-Albanian populations,” the Humanitarian Law Center stated.
