November 15, 2025 – Students of the University of Belgrade Faculty of Law have appealed to Dijana Hrka, the mother of a victim of a collapsed canopy, to end her hunger strike, now in its 14th day in central Belgrade. The students warned that government representatives would bear direct responsibility for any consequences to her health.
On the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter), the students expressed concern that Hrka has put her life at increasing risk in her pursuit of justice, emphasizing that each additional day could be critical.
“Government officials do not care because human lives no longer matter to them. We firmly support Dijana and the demands she has made. We hold those who treat the state as their private property solely responsible for all that happens in our society. At the same time, we appeal for her to end her hunger strike, as no one should suffer due to the negligence and inaction of the Serbian authorities. It is important for us to stand with her until the moment of victory,” the students stated.
Earlier, students from the Belgrade Medical Faculty, also in blockade, issued a similar appeal, urging Hrka to preserve her health:
“As future doctors, but above all as humans, we feel responsible to address you and ask that you safeguard your health. What we are asking is not minor, but we beg you to listen to us, because unlike them, the well-being and life of every individual matter to us,” they wrote on Instagram.
