Air traffic at Berlin Brandenburg Airport was suspended for two hours due to an unidentified drone entering restricted airspace, authorities reported.

Airport officials described the incident as a “wake-up call”, highlighting increasing threats in German airspace. A witness first reported the drone, prompting the deployment of emergency services and a police helicopter. The northern runway was initially closed, and a patrol confirmed the sighting.

The unidentified drone later disappeared from radar, and further investigation now involves the Federal Aviation Office.

Several incoming flights were diverted:

  • Four planes landed in Dresden
  • Four planes in Leipzig
  • Three planes in Hamburg

Affected flights were arriving from major destinations including Stockholm, Antalya, and Helsinki.
