Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was admitted Monday afternoon to Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, DC, for tests and observation after experiencing a fever, his spokesperson told CNN.
“The President is doing well,” said Angel Urena, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, in an interview with CNN, adding that the former president hopes to be home by Christmas. “He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving.”
Clinton, 78, was at his Washington home when he was transported to the hospital.
Clinton’s Health History
The former president underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery in 2004 and had two stents placed to open an artery in 2010. In 2021, he was hospitalized for an infection that had spread to his bloodstream.
Clinton has maintained an active schedule, campaigning this fall and embarking on a rigorous travel agenda following the release of his new book, Citizen: My Life After the White House.
