Sonja Biserko, head of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Belgrade, stated that there are indications of deep cooperation between Russian and Serbian intelligence services, which has been ongoing for many years.

According to Biserko, this cooperation was further strengthened during Aleksandar Vulin’s tenure as Serbia’s Interior Minister.

Speaking on Info Magazine at Klan Kosova, she said:

“The recent arrests linked to Moldova point to Russia’s strong attempts to derail Moldova’s pro-European path and redirect it toward the Kremlin. This is no coincidence.”

Biserko also noted that there are signs of Russian involvement in the Banjska attack of September 24, 2023, when Kosovo police officer Sergeant Afrim Bunjaku was killed.

“Although nothing has been officially confirmed, the information we have suggests that Russia has been deeply embedded in Serbia—through its intelligence services, the Serbian Orthodox Church, and various groups,” she added.

She emphasized that Russia views Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić as a trusted partner, with Moscow maintaining a strong foothold in Serbia.

The Banjska attack in northern Kosovo left one police officer dead and several others injured. The group of about 50 armed men, led by Milan Radoičić—a sanctioned figure by the United States and wanted by Kosovo authorities—retreated into Serbia after the clash.
