On the occasion of Easter, Bishop Dodë Gjergji extended heartfelt wishes to the Catholic faithful, urging them to celebrate the holy day with prayers for peace and hearts filled with hope and joy.
In his Easter address, Bishop Gjergji emphasized the importance of unity and reconciliation, not only within Kosovo but across the globe, calling for shared efforts to bring about peace for the good of humanity.
“Even though this Easter finds us in a bleeding world, a divided Europe, and a Kosovo burdened by political irresponsibility, uncertainty about the future, and unnecessary divisions, we are invited to preserve the peace of our spirit, the glow of hope, and the comfort of faith,” he said.
He reminded the faithful that Easter is not merely a recurring date on the calendar but a living event that resonates deeply in the lives of believers.
“We believe that peace is more beneficial than war, love is more powerful than hate, and life is stronger than death. We pray, knowing we cannot change the entire world—but we can change ourselves and the way we walk through it. That alone is enough to become a reflection of Him who changes hearts, sanctifies time, and saves humanity from death.”
A Spiritual Message Amid Global Turmoil
The Bishop’s message comes at a time of heightened global tension and local political uncertainty. His words served as both a spiritual anchor and a call to moral responsibility, especially in light of Kosovo’s ongoing internal challenges.
“With these prayers of the heart, I wish you an Easter of the Risen Christ filled with love, hope, and true joy. He is risen, just as He said. Alleluia!” Bishop Gjergji concluded.
Easter, the most sacred holiday in the Christian calendar, is celebrated on the first Sunday after the full moon following the spring equinox. It symbolizes life, rebirth, and divine love—values reflected in the Bishop’s call for inner peace and societal harmony.
