Serbia continues its efforts to prevent the support of the Government of Kosovo for Albanians in the Presheva Valley, attempting to block the functioning of the Albanian National Council (KKSh), according to Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi.

According to Bislimi, this obstruction is being carried out through the refusal to register the new chairman of KKSh, Enkel Rexhepi, an action considered a political interference and a violation of the rights of Albanians by Serbia.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Bislimi stated that these actions by Serbia are not isolated but are part of an ongoing strategy to discriminate against Albanians in the Valley, block their economic development, and undermine their legitimate institutions.

“Kosovo’s support for Albanians in the Valley is legitimate, the funds are transparent, and they represent a fair and necessary support. Meanwhile, the blockade of the functioning of KKSh is a political interference without any legal basis, aiming to keep this institution non-functional and powerless in protecting the rights of Albanians,” wrote Bislimi.

He emphasized that Serbia aims to control Albanian institutions in the Valley and silence any independent voice that opposes its discriminatory policies.

“Serbia wants Albanians to have no voice or representation, but we will not stand indifferent in the face of these violations,” he added.

However, Bislimi emphasized that the Government of Kosovo will continue its support for the Albanians in the Valley despite Serbia’s obstacles.

The Deputy Prime Minister called on the international community to remain vigilant regarding these developments and to react to Serbia’s attempts to violate the rights of Albanians in the region.

Earlier, Bislimi had stated that Serbia is also blocking the aid that the Government of Kosovo has sent to farmers in the Valley.

The Albanian National Council is a self-governing institution of the Albanian community in Serbia. The Council was established on July 3, 2010.

Earlier today, the new chairman of this council, Enkel Rexhepi, also reacted, saying that Serbia is refusing to register the new chairman with bureaucratic justifications.
