Former Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, has responded to statements made by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) questioning the legitimacy of the Kurti government to continue dialogue with Serbia after the expiration of its mandate, RKS News reports.
In addition to rejecting LDK’s claims, Bislimi notably emphasized that an agreement with Serbia does exist and that it must be implemented.
“There are no new agreements or obligations coming out of Brussels. The existing ones simply need to be implemented. At this stage, no new agreement is being negotiated in Brussels. We have the Basic Agreement for more than two years now it must be implemented,” Bislimi stated.
His remarks stand in contrast to earlier positions of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who has repeatedly claimed that no agreement exists with Serbia because Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić never signed it. Kurti has maintained that only the fulfillment of certain conditions could lead to a legally valid agreement between the two sides.
