The acting First Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo, Besnik Bislimi, is participating in events organized as part of the Charlemagne International Prize awards in Aachen, where he spoke on the panel titled “More Europe for a Stronger Europe?”
During his address and subsequent discussion, Bislimi reaffirmed Kosovo’s unwavering commitment to European Union integration, describing it as a strategic orientation backed by broad public support. He also noted that Kosovo applied for EU candidate status in December 2022.
“Kosovo deserves that its application be treated seriously and based on meritocracy by the European Union,” Bislimi stated, adding that nine years have passed since the implementation of the Stabilization and Association Agreement.
According to a statement from the Office of the Prime Minister for Public Communication, Bislimi highlighted government achievements in reform implementation, alignment with EU foreign policy, economic development, and progress in democratic indicators, which have been recognized by various international assessments.
He also emphasized the importance of EU enlargement and the need for a clear path toward membership for countries aspiring to join the European family.
As part of his visit to Aachen, Deputy Prime Minister Bislimi will also attend the ceremony honoring European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who will receive the Charlemagne International Prize 2025.
