Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi states that this year’s Progress Report demonstrates “economic growth” and “Kosovo’s advancement.”

He posted on Facebook that the report “reconfirmed economic development.”

“The 2024 Country Report as further evidence of Kosovo’s economic growth and progress. The annual country report, prepared by the European Commission, reconfirmed the economic development that the country is experiencing and positive macroeconomic indicators under our governance. In chapter 2.3 of the report, which discusses economic development and competitiveness, it highlights economic growth, job growth, budget revenue increases, a rise in foreign direct investments, reduced unemployment, strengthened macroeconomic stability, an improved export-import ratio, lower inflation, reduced public debt, and a decrease in informality,” Bislimi wrote.

He noted that the report “mentions the Government’s support for citizens and inclusive policies, especially in subsidizing electricity bills for around 200,000 households,” adding that “Kosovo is praised for fiscal consolidation, improving the business environment, and expanding the banking sector.”

“The economic criteria block is one of the core pillars of the European integration process, and Kosovo is demonstrating that it is moving quickly towards economic growth and alignment with the European Union. There is still much work to be done, but under our governance, we are showing maturity in designing economic policies and steering the country towards a sustainable and correct growth trajectory that strengthens Kosovo’s capacities,” Bislimi wrote.
