Former Suhareka Mayor and ex-Minister of Economy Blerim Kuçi has officially rejoined the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), marking a political comeback after a 17-year departure from the party.

The announcement was made by the LDK branch in Suhareka, where Kuçi was welcomed alongside party leader Lumir Abdixhiku. In a statement, LDK praised Kuçi’s contributions to Kosovo’s political landscape, including his service in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and his efforts to support education through student scholarships.

“This is a return to his political home,” the statement read, underlining Kuçi’s alignment with LDK’s vision for a democratic, developing, and European Kosovo.

Kuçi left LDK years ago and joined the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), where he served as Minister of Economy and Environment under the Hoti Government. However, he stepped away from politics in 2022 to focus on his business activities.

His reentry into politics comes at a strategic time — just ahead of the local elections. While it remains uncertain whether he will run again for mayor of Suhareka under the LDK banner, Kuçi continues to be considered an influential figure in the local political arena. His past endorsement of Bali Muharremaj played a decisive role in election outcomes, with many calling it the “formula” for local victories.

Both Lumir Abdixhiku and local LDK branch leader Ardian Shala expressed gratitude for Kuçi’s readiness to contribute once again, with the clear aim of restoring LDK’s presence in Suhareka and across Kosovo.
