Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, while attending and announcing the 10 global champions in the fight against corruption for 2024, also spoke about the situation in Syria.
He began his speech by praising Nancy Pelosi for her years of support and guidance in foreign policy, before shifting to comments on the Middle East.
Blinken stated that they are working with other partners to determine the next steps for Syria and welcomed the freedom of citizens from Bashar al-Assad’s regime.
“The fall of Assad’s regime is a message to Hezbollah and Russia,” said the U.S. Secretary.
He also delivered a message to the victors of the battle there, advising them to respect the freedom and choices of the Syrian people.
