Blood Samples Collected for Identification as Efforts Intensify for 104 Missing Persons in Mitrovica

The Director of Social Welfare in the Municipality of Mitrovica, Ramadan Beshiri, held a meeting with representatives of the Association of Families of Missing Persons in Mitrovica and officials from the Government Commission for Missing Persons (KQPZHK) to coordinate actions aimed at clarifying the fate of the missing.

Representatives from the Kosovo Police’s War Crimes Department and the Institute of Forensic Medicine also participated, presenting information regarding current identification procedures.

During the meeting, Director Beshiri announced that blood samples were collected from family members yesterday to facilitate identification and comparison with human remains currently held in the morgue.

It was also reported that, according to official data, 104 persons are listed as missing in the Mitrovica municipality, while the total number of missing persons in Kosovo stands at 1,571.

“We share the grief and hope of the families of the missing,” Director Beshiri emphasized, reaffirming the institutional commitment to continue efforts toward fully clarifying their fate.
