After 26 years and 10 months, the remains of Rasim Mehmet Koci (born 1957), who went missing on April 1, 1999, near the village of Osek Hylë during the Kosovo War, have been recovered.

According to his family, Koci was arrested by Serbian forces, killed, and his body disappeared. Following nearly 27 years of uncertainty and anguish, his remains have now been identified and will be handed over to the family on Friday, 30 January 2026.

The Koci family suffered significant losses during the war. In addition to Rasim Mehmet Koci, the family lost Afrim Idriz Koci and Besim Idriz Koci, who were brutally killed on 25 March 1999 by Serbian paramilitary and military forces.

Tributes for Rasim Mehmet Koci will be held on 31 January 2026, from 12:00 to 13:00 at the Palace of Culture in Gjakovë, followed by the burial at Qabrat Martyrs’ Cemetery at 13:30, the family announced.
