Boycott in Numbers of the Electoral Process in the Largest Municipalities of Kosovo

In Kosovo’s main municipalities, more than half of eligible voters did not exercise their constitutional right to vote in the parliamentary elections on February 9th.

Among Kosovo’s larger municipalities, Gjakova had the lowest voter turnout in the parliamentary elections, with only 34.68%. Out of 119,237 eligible voters, only 41,354 exercised their right to vote, meaning 77,883 boycotted the election process.

Next is Peja, where 35.45% of voters participated. From 115,679 eligible voters, 41,009 cast their vote, while 74,670 boycotted the election process in this municipality.

Out of 182,939 eligible voters in Prizren, 68,999 voted, which is 37.72%. In other words, 113,940 Prizren residents did not exercise their constitutional right to vote.

Here is the list of the major municipalities by voter participation:

  • Gjakova: 119,237 eligible voters – 41,354 voted – 34.68% participation. 77,883 boycotted the election process.
  • Mitrovica: 81,482 eligible voters – 34,103 voted – 41.85% participation. 47,379 boycotted the election process.
  • Peja: 115,679 eligible voters – 41,009 voted – 35.45% participation. 74,670 boycotted the election process.
  • Podujevë: 84,023 eligible voters – 38,612 voted – 45.95% participation. 45,411 boycotted the election process.
  • Prishtina: 212,515 eligible voters – 118,321 voted – 55.68% participation. 94,194 boycotted the election process.
  • Prizren: 182,939 eligible voters – 68,999 voted – 37.72% participation. 113,940 boycotted the election process.
  • Skenderaj: 53,329 eligible voters – 20,336 voted – 38.13% participation. 32,993 boycotted the election process.
  • Ferizaj: 118,288 eligible voters – 55,961 voted – 47.31% participation. 62,327 boycotted the election process.
