Lahi Brahimaj, a Member of Parliament for the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has stated that the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) is committing a constitutional breach by insisting on a secret vote for the election of the Parliament Speaker.
Brahimaj emphasized that AAK and other opposition parties did not boycott the process when the voting was open.
He further added that had the open voting format continued, all parties would have participated by voting against, for, or abstaining.
“Certainly, those who tried to introduce secret voting on the first day committed a constitutional violation. The Alliance and other opposition parties did not boycott the vote when it was an open vote. According to the regulation, the voting method cannot be changed during the process. Of course, if it had continued in that form, other parties would have also voted against, for, or abstained. We do not support and will not vote for such a vote,” he declared on the show “Ditari” on Tëvë1.
AAK Ready for New Elections, Optimistic for Local Results
When asked about new elections, the deputy stated that AAK is ready to go to new elections whenever they may occur. While acknowledging that “it is not good for the people to have two elections,” he affirmed AAK’s readiness.
Regarding the upcoming local elections, Brahimaj expressed confidence, predicting a “surprising result” for his party.
“Since the first session, the Alliance has been ready to go to elections whenever they happen. I know it’s not good for the people to have two elections. Some names have been presented for mayoral candidates who were nominated by Haradinaj, and they are working on completing the lists for municipal assembly members. There will be a surprising result in the local elections for the Alliance,” he added.
