The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, has praised the recent elections in Kosovo, highlighting their peaceful and democratic nature. He called this a significant achievement for Kosovo and the region as a whole.
In his remarks, Hargreaves stressed the urgent need for the formation of a stable and effective government. He stated, “The elections were held peacefully, and we can confidently say they reflect the will of the people of Kosovo. Having democratic elections in this region, carried out so smoothly, is a tremendous achievement that deserves recognition and praise.”
Hargreaves expressed anticipation regarding the final election results and what they would mean for the formation of Kosovo’s government. He added, “Everyone in Kosovo is eager to understand the final outcomes, and what this means for the establishment of the government in Kosovo. I am among those who can hardly wait.”
He emphasized that Kosovo must form a stable government as soon as possible. “These are difficult times across Europe, and it is not the right moment for a country like Kosovo to be without a government with a stable mandate or a parliament that cannot pass legislation effectively. My main hope is that the government will be formed in a way that provides this country with stability for the long term, enabling it to face international challenges and urgent local issues,” said Hargreaves.
The British Ambassador’s comments highlight the critical need for strong governance in Kosovo, particularly as the region navigates ongoing challenges.
