The European Union has welcomed the peaceful, competitive, and inclusive conduct of the first round of local elections in Kosovo.

An EU spokesperson emphasized that Brussels-based institutions appreciate the participation of all communities in the voting process, as well as a free, fair, and comprehensive media coverage, which contributes to a transparent electoral process.

“For municipalities where mayors were elected in the first round, we call for the certification and swift implementation of election results through a regular transition of local governance. For other municipalities, where runoff elections for mayors will be held, we call for a peaceful, competitive, and inclusive process on November 9,” the EU spokesperson stated, as reported by RTK.
