The next meeting between the chief negotiators of Kosovo and Serbia is set to take place in December.
This was announced by the European Union Special Representative for the Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak, in a post on Facebook.
Lajčak further stated that the past two weeks have been productive, with visits to Geneva, Tirana, and Paris. During these visits, he engaged in significant discussions on the dialogue and the way forward.
“The past two weeks have been both productive and insightful, with visits to Geneva, Tirana, and Paris. With my interlocutors at the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Quai d’Orsay and elsewhere, I engaged in important discussions on the Dialogue and the path forward. These conversations are critical in shaping the work my team is doing as we prepare for the upcoming Chief Negotiators’ meeting in December. I look forward to the coming period,” Lajčak wrote.
The chief negotiators, Besnik Bislimi from Kosovo and Petar Petković from Serbia, held their most recent meeting on October 24 as part of the ongoing dialogue process. Following the meeting, Lajčak revealed that the focus was on advancing and normalizing relations between Kosovo and Serbia, particularly through the implementation of the 2023 Agreement on the Path to Normalization.
It is important to note that the political leaders overseeing the negotiations, Prime Minister Albin Kurti of Kosovo and President Aleksandar Vučić of Serbia, have not met since September 14, 2023.
Kosovo and Serbia have been engaged in dialogue in Brussels since 2011. The process, which is supported by the United States, aims to normalize relations between the two countries. While the parties have reached numerous agreements, the majority of them have not been implemented.
