The Bulgarian National Assembly has approved a temporary ban on the export and supply of oil products within the European Union, mainly targeting crude oil and aviation fuels.
The measure applies to oil products deemed at risk of artificial price increases. Bulgarian authorities cited the need to ensure national energy security and maintain domestic fuel market stability, especially in light of U.S. sanctions on Russian energy companies, including the Lukoil Group.
The ban does not affect fuel supply for local or foreign vessels and aircraft, nor deliveries to EU and NATO armed forces operating within member states, according to Bulgaria’s RTV.
This temporary restriction is part of Bulgaria’s broader efforts to safeguard domestic fuel reserves while navigating the geopolitical challenges affecting European energy markets.
