Hundreds of business owners in Prishtina blocked main roads on Thursday to protest against a decision by the energy regulator, which forces them to purchase electricity from the open market. This measure is expected to triple their energy bills, severely impacting company profits, writes Rks News.

The regulator announced that starting June 1, businesses with more than 50 employees or with a turnover exceeding €10 million will no longer receive subsidies a necessary step towards market liberalization and EU integration. Protesters warn this will have serious consequences for the local economy.

Reuters covered the event, emphasizing the scale of the blockades and the concerns of business owners.
