A California doctor accused of supplying “Friends” actor Matthew Perry with ketamine in the weeks leading up to his fatal overdose has agreed to plead guilty, federal prosecutors announced Monday.

Dr. Salvador Plasencia will plead guilty to four counts of ketamine distribution, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. His plea deal could carry a prison sentence of up to 40 years, with the official plea expected in the coming weeks.

The case has drawn national attention, casting a spotlight on the misuse of ketamine and the legal responsibility of those who distribute it unlawfully.

Matthew Perry, widely loved for his role as Chandler Bing on Friends, was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home in October 2023. He was 54 years old.

Despite being open about his battles with depression and addiction, Perry’s sudden death shocked fans across the globe.
