Calls for the killing of Bosniaks and praised the genocide in Srebrenica, two Serbian policemen sentenced to house arrest

Two police officers from Priboj, in southwestern Serbia, have been sentenced to six months of first-degree house arrest for inciting national, racial and religious hatred, the Uzica High Court confirmed to RFE / RL.

The case refers to a video that was broadcast by the media in early 2022 from a private party of members of the Serbian police in Priboj, where a chauvinist and nationalist song praising the genocide in Srebrenica was sung.

He calls for a repeat of Srebrenica, the killing of Bosniaks, and calls for “Vukovar to happen” in Novi Pazar, a town in southern Serbia with a majority Bosniak population.

The Islamic community in Serbia announced on September 24 that the aforementioned decision is “a positive step towards restoring and strengthening trust in the judicial authorities of the Republic of Serbia and an encouragement to all Bosniaks, especially those living in Priboj.”

The verdict of Mr.D. and P.M. it was approved on September 23 and the parties have the right to appeal it. The final decision was given by the Court of Appeal, according to the Uzhice High Court.

Priboj is a town in southwestern Serbia where the Serb and Bosnian population live.
