The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that to ensure the security and integrity of the electoral process at polling stations, municipal counting centers, and the Central Counting and Results Center, recording cameras will be installed.
The CEC informs that these cameras will cover the entire space of the halls, including the entrances and the areas where election materials are received and stored.
“This ensures a high level of supervision and protection throughout the electoral process. The cameras will continuously record all activities taking place within the space, enabling the monitoring of all actions carried out. Every activity in the Municipal Counting Center (MCC) and the Central Counting and Results Center (CCRC) will be recorded and preserved, allowing for verification and control of every detail of the electoral process,” said the CEC.
Additionally, the installation of cameras at polling stations will fully ensure the secrecy of the vote and aims to guarantee the security of election materials as well as the preservation of the integrity of the voting and counting process at the polling station.
“Furthermore, the CEC will not monitor these cameras on election day; their recording will be done passively, and access to the video recordings can only be provided through a decision or request from law enforcement institutions,” the statement added.
The CEC also announces that to ensure the registration process continues in the event of a power outage, each camera system at the polling station, MCC, and CCRC will be connected to a backup power source, ensuring the operation of the cameras for at least two hours without interruption.
