The vice president of the USA, Kamala Harris, is viewed with concern by the Republican camp. The 59-year-old, former US senator and Attorney General of California, will be the first woman to become President of the United States if she is officially nominated as the party’s candidate and prevails in the November 5 election.
She is the first African American and Asian person to serve as vice president. Her three-and-a-half-year term in the White House has been characterized by a poor start. Recent polls indicate that Harris could be a strong candidate against Trump.
Some Democrats believe Harris could energize Democratic-leaning groups whose enthusiasm for Biden has waned, including black, young voters.
Harris would take over the money raised by Biden’s campaign and inherit the campaign’s infrastructure, a critical advantage with just four months to go before Election Day on Nov. 5.
