A car rammed into a group of people in Munich, Germany, on Thursday, injuring at least 38 individuals, according to German police. Several victims sustained severe injuries, reports RFE.
Suspect in Custody
Authorities launched a large-scale operation in the Dachauer Strasse area, where the driver was arrested at the scene. Munich police confirmed that the suspect, a 24-year-old Afghan national, no longer poses a threat.
Attack Near Security Conference Venue
The regional broadcaster Bayerischer Rundfunk reported that the victims were participating in a strike when the incident occurred. Notably, the attack took place just 1.5 kilometers from the venue of the Munich Security Conference, set to begin on Friday. The high-profile event will host world leaders, including U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
