About a week after the latest reported death threat against the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani which she received via the official presidential email address there have been no concrete developments from the justice authorities.
Bekim Kupina, media advisor to the president, stated that the Kosovo Police confirmed today that the Special Prosecutor’s Office has not yet assigned any prosecutor to handle this case.
“About a week after the latest death threat against President Osmani was reported through the official presidential email and the police opened an investigation, we were informed today by the police that the Special Prosecutor’s Office has not yet appointed any prosecutor to deal with the threats against President Osmani,” Kupina said.
He also mentioned that Osmani has faced dozens of threats in recent months, many of which were public and made without hiding the identities of the authors.
“So far, there have been dozens of continuous threats, but no arrests by the responsible authorities, even though many of the threats were made openly with no effort to conceal the perpetrators’ identities. It is concerning that there has been no efficient and prompt response from the authorities, as these threats target the head of state and thus the constitutional order, especially knowing that currently the Presidency is the only institution with full competencies,” Kupina added.
