The Central Election Commission (CEC) has appointed more than 520 counting teams with over 2,000 members to work in the Municipal Counting Centers (MCCs) for the upcoming local elections scheduled on October 12, 2025.
According to the Law on General Elections, during Local Elections the counting of votes for mayoral candidates and political entities for Municipal Assemblies is conducted directly at polling stations after the voting process ends. These results are recorded on official forms.
However, the votes for municipal assembly candidates are counted within the Municipal Counting Centers, a process carried out by the appointed counting teams.
In addition, under the CEC’s Electoral Regulation No. 16/2024 on MCCs, these centers will also handle the verification of political party votes based on forms completed at polling stations.
The CEC also approved the procedure of operations within MCCs for the 2025 local elections. This procedure defines the establishment, functioning, and management of MCCs, covering oversight, reception of election materials, counting of ballots, and verification of results recorded in polling station forms.
