CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated during a press conference that in the 24 diplomatic missions where voting had begun, by 09:00, 1,659 voters had cast their ballots out of a total of 19,187 registered voters.
“According to the data from the first hours of voting, across 25 diplomatic missions where the process has begun, by 09:00, 8.64 percent of the 19,187 registered voters had voted, which amounts to 1,659 voters,” Elezi said.
He also noted that, overall, voting is taking place in 29 diplomatic missions.
“The total number of Kosovo citizens eligible to vote at the 29 diplomatic missions is 19,187 voters. Only voters registered to vote at diplomatic missions are able to cast their ballots today, as the voter lists sent to these missions include only the names of citizens who chose this voting method,” he explained.
Elezi also outlined when and how voting began at diplomatic missions.
“The voting process began at 05:00 Kosovo local time at the Consulate of the Republic of Kosovo in Istanbul. Meanwhile, at 07:00, also according to Kosovo local time, voting began at 24 diplomatic missions in Europe,” Elezi stated.
The entire voting process is expected to conclude at 19:00, with the exception of the Consulate of Kosovo in Istanbul, where voting will end at 17:00 Kosovo local time.
“The majority of voting processes at most diplomatic missions will close at 19:00 Kosovo local time, except for the Consulate of Kosovo in Istanbul, which will close at 17:00. Meanwhile, at four diplomatic missions in the United States and Canada, voting will close at 01:00 Kosovo local time, shortly after midnight,” Elezi clarified.
