Kreshnik Radoniqi, Chairman of the Central Election Commission (CEC), announced in a press conference after the conclusion of voting in 18 municipalities holding runoffs that preliminary results will be released within an hour.
“I believe that within an hour we will hold a new press conference to publish the preliminary results. Around 21:00, but we may need a little more time,” Radoniqi said regarding the expected timing of the preliminary results.
He also reported that 32.73% of eligible voters participated in today’s runoff in these 18 municipalities. In comparison, the first round in the same municipalities had a turnout of 38.91%, with 512,160 voters out of 1,316,129 eligible.
Radoniqi added:
“Vote counting is currently ongoing at polling stations. In some, the process is complete, and results will start appearing on the CEC platform. Step one is crucial for concluding election day. We call on all polling station council members to strictly follow all electoral rules to fully protect the will of the citizens.”
He also noted that from 19:00, the 48-hour period for filing complaints with the Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel (PZAP) regarding today’s voting process began.
