The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo announced that vote counting for mayoral candidates will begin tonight, while the counting for municipal assembly members will start tomorrow.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi stated:

“At 19:30 we will have preliminary data on voter turnout. We expect that shortly after polling stations close, the vote counting process can begin. According to the law, votes for mayors are counted first, followed by votes for municipal assemblies. Votes for municipal assembly candidates will be counted starting tomorrow at the municipal counting centers.”

Elezi also highlighted that this year, updates on election data were more frequent compared to previous local elections.

“Generally, we compare with elections of the same type, namely local elections, because they have different features. In February this year, during the parliamentary elections, we had 1,200 candidates for deputies, whereas in local elections we have 205 mayoral candidates and more than 4,000 candidates for municipal assemblies,” he explained.
