CEC Decides to Destroy Election Material from February 9th

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has today approved the decision to organize a joint workshop with the Venice Commission, which will be held during the last week of June 2025.

This workshop aims to support post-election analysis and contribute to improving the integrity and functionality of the electoral processes in the country. The Venice Commission, known for its expertise in constitutional and electoral matters, provides technical assistance and participates in election observation missions under the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

In another item on the agenda, the CEC approved the payment of around 130 individuals engaged as staff in polling stations within diplomatic missions and those involved in retrieving postal deliveries for the elections to the Assembly of Kosovo held on February 9, 2025.

The CEC also decided on the destruction of the electoral material from the February 9, 2025, parliamentary elections in Kosovo.

CEC member from the Council for Electoral Operations, Arianit Elshani, stated that the materials to be destroyed include ballots, voter lists, party and candidate result forms, and others. Materials that are part of ongoing investigations by law enforcement will be preserved until relevant procedures are completed.

Continuing the meeting, the CEC approved amendments to two sub-legal acts: Electoral Regulation No. 03/2024 on the creation, confirmation, and objection of the voter list, and Electoral Regulation No. 10/2024 on ballots and brochures.

At the end of the agenda, the CEC approved the request for the replacement of a municipal assembly member in Fushë-Kosovë. CEC member Sami Hamiti from the Council for Legal Affairs stated that according to the documentation, Mr. Artan Asllani resigned from the position after being elected as a Member of Parliament, and will be replaced by the next candidate on the list, Qerim Gara.
