The Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to establish additional voting locations for the December 28 elections, outside Kosovo’s diplomatic premises.

This proposal came from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora (MFAD), and was supported exclusively by Vetëvendosje. The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) all opposed it.

However, the list of additional voting centers was pushed to a full vote exactly as requested by VV, receiving six votes in favor — with the decisive vote cast by the Turkish member, Mufera Sinik.

Meanwhile, the former opposition parties insisted that voting should take place only within diplomatic missions. More precisely, they proposed that voting be held solely in 50 diplomatic representations with 66 polling stations across 36 states, with a maximum of 63,000 eligible voters.
