The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Kosovo has indicated that the announcement of final election results may take place before January 19, the initially planned deadline.

CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi confirmed that the pace of work at Municipal Vote Counting Centers has exceeded expectations, enabling an accelerated timeline.

We are currently in the final phase of activities across all Municipal Counting Centers and have begun counting ballots cast outside regular polling stations, including out-of-country voting, conditional ballots, and votes from persons with special needs,” Elezi stated.

According to the CEC’s original schedule, activities at the Municipal Counting Centers were expected to conclude by January 7, but due to the faster-than-anticipated workflow, this phase is now expected to be completed earlier, during the weekend.

Elezi further explained that the counting of ballots from diplomatic missions and postal voting, initially scheduled to begin on January 7, has also started ahead of time. Similarly, the counting of conditional votes and ballots cast by persons with special needs, originally planned for January 16, may now commence significantly earlier.

“As a result, the final election results, which were planned to be announced no later than January 19, may be published sooner,” Elezi told Sinjali.
