Starting today (June 26), the period opens for political entities to apply for certification to participate in the Local Elections of October 12, and to submit the lists of their running candidates.
The spokesperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Valmir Elezi, stated that this period will last 49 days.
“From June 26 until August 13, 2025, political parties, coalitions, civic initiatives, and independent candidates may submit to the CEC – specifically to the Office for Registration, Certification, and Financial Audit of Political Entities – their application to be certified for participation in the elections for Municipal Mayors and Municipal Assemblies, which will be held on October 12, 2025, along with the list of candidates for Municipal Mayors and Municipal Assemblies,” he said.
According to the CEC, the application process will be available online for political subjects, and it is entirely up to them to decide in which type of elections they want to participate.
“It is entirely up to the political entities to decide in which municipalities they wish to run. Likewise, it is their choice whether in a particular municipality they want to run only for mayor, only for the assembly, or for both simultaneously,” Elezi told RTK.
