The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that the vote recount is progressing according to plan and is expected to remove all doubts regarding election results, making their certification clearer.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi said on Sunday that, at this pace, the recount is expected to conclude during this week. He added that the process may reduce the need for appeals, but the CEC will still wait for the deadline for submitting and reviewing complaints before issuing the final certified results.
As of 4:00 PM on Sunday, 65% of polling stations have been recounted. The process has been completed in several municipalities:
- Drenas: The largest vote correction was for Fadil Demaku (PDK) – 222 votes. Other candidates had changes of fewer than 20 votes.
- Gjakova: The recount removed 383 votes from Adonjeta Zymberi-Selmani and 244 votes from Hajdar Beqa (PDK), while Agon Batusha (LVV) gained 215 votes. All other differences did not exceed 100 votes.
- Gjilan: Out of 130 boxes, 7 remain to be recounted. The largest difference was 43 additional votes for Arijeta Rexhepi (LVV).
- Istog: 53 out of 62 boxes have been recounted. The largest change was 14 votes added for Gani Dreshaj (AAK).
The recount has been completed in 23 municipalities, while 15 others are still ongoing, including Prishtina, where 32% of polling stations have been recounted so far.
The recount aims to ensure accuracy and transparency of the results, eliminating any doubts that may have arisen from the initial count.
