The Central Election Commission (CEC) will hold its next meeting today at 10:00 AM.
One of the main agenda items will be the certification of the third group of political entities and candidates for participation in the 2025 Local Elections for mayors and municipal assemblies, scheduled to take place on October 12, 2025.
CEC spokesperson Valmir Elezi announced that in this third group, a total of 41 political entities (including 27 citizens’ initiatives) are scheduled for certification, presenting 444 candidates in total — 25 mayoral candidates and 419 candidates for municipal assemblies.
The agenda includes the following:
- Opening remarks by Kreshnik Radoniqi, Chair of the CEC meeting.
- Certification recommendations for political entities and independent candidates, including several citizens’ initiatives such as Iniciativa Shqiptare Mogill Kllokot, URA, Srpska Narodna Sloga, Lidhja e Prishtinës, Aleanca Shqiptare, Forca e Re Kombëtare, Lëvizja e Pavarur e Kaçanikut, among others.
- Certification of independent candidates, including Xhavit Murati, Arbër Emini, Agron Kajtazi, Rrahim Morina, Lulzim Shoshi, Shqipe Muja, Gani Veselaj, Katarina Ađančić, and others.
- Review and approval of procedural guidelines for releasing election materials and the International Election Observer Program for the 2025 local elections.
The CEC will also address additional operational and procedural matters under the “Miscellaneous” section of the agenda.
