The candidate of the Vetëvendosje Movement for Mayor of Prishtina, Hajrulla Çeku, has strongly criticized the LDK candidate, Përparim Rama, accusing him of complete failure in managing municipal enterprises. Çeku argued that the capital has been poorly maintained and that the city’s cleaning services are in a miserable state.
“Who stopped you from collecting the trash? Four years in power and still couldn’t keep the city clean. A deep reform of all municipal enterprises is needed — without functional enterprises, there can be no well-maintained city,” Çeku declared.
He added that the reform process must begin with depoliticization and a thorough audit of workers’ performance.
“This reform is essential because otherwise, Pastrimi and other enterprises will end up the same way. No one should lose their job, but no one should get paid for doing nothing. Once we have cooperative and accountable management, we must also improve working conditions and increase salaries for those who actually work,” Çeku emphasized.
