The Minister of Culture, Youth, and Sports, Hajrulla Çeku, stated that Kosovo’s statehood was defended last night in Romania and emphasized that racism has no place in sports.

“What happened in Bucharest during the match between Kosovo and Romania was unacceptable and tragic. Once again, political messages and provocative chants from Romanian fans. We stand firmly behind Kosovo’s players. Yesterday’s events deeply violate the values of sports, which should serve as a means of unity, not hatred and division,” he wrote on Facebook.

Minister Çeku condemned all forms of racism and insults directed at Kosovo and called for action from international football institutions to protect the integrity of sports events and maintain respect and dignity among nations.

“We also offer our full support to the Football Federation of Kosovo, which has begun preparing a complete complaint with facts and evidence to be submitted to UEFA’s disciplinary bodies,” he added.
