New Details Emerge on Tragedy in Cetinje: “He Drank All Day, Took the Gun, and Committed the Crime” .
New details about the tragedy that occurred yesterday in Cetinje are emerging. The suspect for the killing of 12 people in Cetinje, Aco Martinović, is believed to have committed the act at four different locations.
This was confirmed last night by the Director of the Montenegrin Police, Lazar Šćepanović.
It is suspected that the attacker, Martinović, who left 12 people dead and injured four others critically, had been drinking earlier in the day at the “Velestovo” tavern, near the Sports Center in Cetinje.
According to Šćepanović, Martinović had been drinking in that establishment throughout the day, after which he went home and took a weapon.
He added that, according to official records, Martinović did not possess any firearms.
Šćepanović also shared another detail. He stated that the attacker had been convicted on probation in 2005 for violent behavior.
“In 2022, certain measures and actions were taken, and a preliminary check found an air rifle, explosives, and he was sentenced in the first instance to three months, though it was not a final conviction,” he said.
Minister of Internal Affairs Danilo Šaranović stated that Martinović killed two minor children from the Vuletić family and their father, who was the owner of the “Velestovo” tavern.
“He committed multiple murders in the Cetinje area, including members of his own family,” he added.
The police had surrounded the area where the suspect was believed to be hiding after carrying out the horrific act.
Prosecutor Andrijana Nastić confirmed that 12 people had been killed in Cetinje and that the suspect, Aco Martinović, had committed suicide.
She conducted an investigation at six locations, five of which were where the murders took place and one where the suspect shot himself.
Martinović killed four people at two locations, two children at a third location, and one person at the other two.
Four people have been left injured and were transported to the Clinical Center.
The Director of the Clinical Center, Aleksandar Radović, stated that three people were operated on that night and are currently in the Intensive Care Unit.
The surgery for the fourth injured person, who suffered multiple injuries, was expected to last late into the night.
“I must say that all of the injuries are life-threatening, but we will monitor their condition. For now, vital parameters are satisfactory,” Radović said.
He added that the fourth patient has sustained multiple injuries to the abdomen, chest, and head, and that the surgery would continue through the night.
