The Kosovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry has welcomed the Commercial Court’s decision to suspend the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) notification that compelled businesses to enter the open electricity market.

In an official statement, the Chamber said this ruling confirms its repeated claims that ZRRE acted unlawfully by forcing over 1,300 companies into the liberalized energy market without sufficient consultation or prior analysis.

The Chamber emphasized that it was the first to file a legal complaint with the Basic Court of Prishtina, and noted that dozens of other companies have since launched similar legal actions against ZRRE’s decision.

“ZRRE acted hastily, enforcing the transition without offering real competition – as only one supplier is currently active in the open market,” the statement noted.

The suspension of the ZRRE decision marks a victory for the business community, many of whom expressed concern about price instability and lack of transparency in the open energy market.
