Students participating in a blockade at the Faculty of Law in Novi Sad released a video showing an incident in which a man dressed in black and wearing a cap physically attacked another man who identified himself as a journalist.

The footage, shared on the official account of the protesting students, shows the moment of the assault. According to the students, the attacker was part of a group that had gathered earlier in the square during the day.

In the video, the man in black initially reacts by objecting to being filmed, but becomes increasingly aggressive after the assaulted individual identifies himself as a journalist.

The incident coincides with a protest outside the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, where a solemn academy is taking place to mark the 200th anniversary of Matica srpska. The event occurred yesterday.

President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, had been scheduled to attend but canceled his visit. Instead, the head of the SNS party, Miloš Vučević, represented the administration.

Also present at the ceremony were Patriarch Porfirije, Minister of Education Dejan Vuk Stanković, Minister of Culture Nikola Selaković, and other officials.

The full circumstances of the assault remain unclear, and authorities have yet to release an official statement regarding the case.
