The Coalition of NGOs for Child Protection – KOMF organized a protest today in front of the Assembly of Kosovo, under the powerful slogan:
“Your seats are not worth more than the lives and well-being of children.”
The protest took place at Ibrahim Rugova Square, right outside the Parliament building, from 10:45 to 11:00 a.m., coinciding with the resumption of the 20th attempt to convene the constitutive session of the new Assembly.
KOMF stated that the goal of the protest is to urge institutional reflection and responsibility among MPs in light of the dire challenges faced by children in Kosovo. The ongoing political deadlock, the organization warns, is delaying the approval of key policies directly affecting the well-being and lives of children.
“KOMF calls on MPs to reflect on the weight of their responsibilities. They must take constitutional and legal action immediately to guarantee the protection of children’s rights.
Every decision they delay or fail to make is a cost children pay — with their health, well-being, and too often, their lives,”
stated KOMF in its announcement.
This action comes amid growing frustration from civil society over the prolonged institutional stalemate that has stalled important legislative decisions, including those on child protection, welfare, and healthcare.
