China has initiated joint military exercises involving the army, navy, and missile forces around Taiwan on Tuesday, labeling the move as a “stern warning” against separatism.

Chinese authorities also referred to Taiwan’s President Lai Ching-te as a “parasite.”

This development follows Taiwan’s dispatch of warships to respond to the Chinese navy, which was approaching its coastline.

The Eastern Theatre Command of the Chinese military stated that the drills aim to prevent any attempts for Taiwan’s independence, which is self-governed but considered by Beijing as part of its territory.

China’s rhetoric and military actions have heightened tensions across the Taiwan Strait, raising concerns internationally.

Taiwan has responded by activating fighter jets and dispatching naval vessels to monitor the situation and protect its waters.

The situation remains tense, as international leaders are urging both sides to exercise restraint to avoid a potential escalation of the conflict.
